Sitting Meditation
This practice enables you to bring focus to the body, the mind or even your environment. The flexibility of sitting meditation means you can meditate anywhere using a cushion or chair.
Standing Meditation
Standing meditation makes use of an alternative posture to encourage strength, healing and calm within both the body and mind
Mindful Movement
Mindful movement allows the mind to bring attention to the body as you work through a series of specific postures that help unify the connection between the body and breath.
What Is Mindfulness?
Who is it For?
Can this read ‘Jon Kabat-Zinn the founder of MBSR describes Mindfulness as ‘paying attention, in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally'(Ref: https://www.mindful.org/jon-kabat-zinn-defining-mindfulness/) . This really means slowing down in order to raise awareness of how you move through each day enabling you to recognise opportunities for positive change in your life. Being mindful is the opposite of rushing or multitasking. When you’re mindful, you’re taking your time.
MBSR - Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
This is the first of the secular 8 week courses to be ‘taught’ in a secular environment. It was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 (initially to support people suffering from chronic pain). It’s benefits were quickly established in supporting individuals in this way – and also in many other ways. ‘MBSR is the foundation on which the majority of other secular Mindfulness course are built
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
This development of MBSR was specifically designed to prevent people who suffered with recurrent depression from relapsing. Research has shown it is as effective as anti-depressant medication and is now approved by NICE as a treatment on the NHS. (Please bear in mind in you are suffering from recurrent depression, you should only attend this course after being referred by a medical professional within a clinical context.). However, MBCT can provide significant benefits to those in the general population and the strategies explored can be very effective if you suffer from or have a tendency towards low mood or struggles with anxiety. Dot Be Foundations
Dot be Foundations was developed by Mark Williams at the Oxford Centre for Mindfulness and is supported by his book ‘Finding Peace in a Frantic World’. This course is provided by the Mindfulness in Schools Project (Misp) (Ref: https://mindfulnessinschools.org/about/) based on the principles of MBCT and is very much geared towards adults working in a school environment. However, it does not provide the same level of depth of practice as MBCT due to the shorter periods of practice during each session and the absence of the one-day retreat during week 7.
‘Dot be’: The ‘Dot be’ course is specifically designed for students aged 11 to 18 and provides an opportunity for students to explore mindfulness in a safe and supported environment. This course is made up of ten sessions and is designed to support young adults with their own well being and mental strength. https://mindfulnessinschools.org/teach-dot-b/

About Me
I initially discovered mindfulness when I began researching ways to support the students that I teach. This led me to discover mindfulness strategies that have enabled me to implement positive and life-enhancing changes to my own life. During my personal development I have taught hundreds of students mindfulness and have supported the mindful development of dozens of teachers, leaders and parents within educational environments and the wider community.
I am qualified to Masters level in the ‘Teaching of Mindfulness Based Approaches’ from the highly reputable Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP) at Bangor University
